Puppy Love: 3 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Your Dog
Valentine’s day is fast approaching! What better way to celebrate the day of love than by spending it with your most loyal companion? Read on to learn more about how to celebrate February 14th with your dog.
Pamper your puppy with a day at the doggy spa
Consider sending yourself to the spa for some much-needed Valentine’s pampering. While you are getting a manicure or haircut, send your dog in for a groom at Ruffin’It Dog Care. Our grooming services will leave your dog looking, feeling and smelling nice for those Valentine’s Day cuddles by the fire. Grooming services include bathing, de-shedding, nail trims and oral assessments.
Go on a romantic walk
Why not take your dog on a special date? Get out of the city for a few hours and spend some contemplative time together in the wilderness. Victoria is home to many fantastic hiking trails that are great places to take your best friend. Try the scenic and hilly walking trails at Thetis Lake Regional Park. If you are in the mood for a climb, head to Mount Douglas Park. Willows Beach in Oak Bay is open to canines of all stripes in the wintertime. Go for a leisurely stroll in the sand as you watch your pup bound gleefully in and out of the water. Dogs also make great wingmen because they’re fantastic conversation starters. Who knows? Maybe you’ll meet another dog-lover when you’re out on the beach!
Snuggle up and watch a movie
Try watching a dog-friendly film with your favourite furry friend. He or she can curl up with you on the couch (or at your feet if you don’t allow couch sits!) while you both enjoy some popcorn and feature entertainment. Popcorn can actually be a healthy snack for dogs as it contains potassium and important minerals such as magnesium and calcium. Just be sure to avoid the butter and salt. Dogs make excellent movie dates because they never argue about what to watch. Try a movie that showcases all the trials and joys of dog ownership, like Marley & Me (2008). Or put on a film that reveals the fascinating world animals inhabit all on their own, like Homeward Bound (1993). Inviting the kids on your dog movie date? Try a crowd pleaser like Scooby-Doo (2002) or The Lady and The Tramp (1955).
May your Valentine’s be filled with all kinds of puppy love!
